"You're right. We do have lots of time. I will wait." You turn to look at the others in the room, and your eyes meet those of a boy about your age. He motions you over.

"See that wall," he says. "I have heard that there is a way to open it and that behind it lies the Chamber of the Argoni—captives from a planet of the star Denebola. If we could learn-how to get through to the Argoni, maybe they could help us escape!"

You tap against the wall. Nothing happens. You kick it as hard as you can. Suddenly it dis-solves before your eyes. A long, curving passageway lies before you. The boy starts through it.

You follow cautiously. Looking back, you see that the wall has formed again behind you. You continue on through the passageway. The light grows brighter. Now you can see clearly. The room is crowded with huge, hairy creatures that look like great purple-headed spiders.

"Help!" The boy screams and turns toward you. In a flash one of the monsters’ springs for-ward. To your horror, it swallows the boy in one gulp! You scream and turn to run, but you are its next victim.
